In the August edition of Rotary District 7620 Foundation's Engage! newsletter, Rotary's emphasis is on continuing the final push to eradicate polio. With polio reemerging in three difficult to address countries -- Pakistan, Nigeria and Afghanistan -- and a resurgence in Somalia and the Middle East, the push to eliminate polio for good is critical. Year-to-date in 2014 there have been 128 reported cases of Wild Poliovirus, with Pakistan recording the greatest number (99).

District 7620 efforts are focused on fundraising and giving through the Rotary Foundation. DG Bill Fine is encouraging Rotarians to invite area business owners and sales professionals to participate in a Sandler Training program on October 15th at the Charlestown Retirement Center in Cantonsville, MD. The program is designed to help Rotarians and invited guests to raise money for polio eradication with all proceeds going to the Rotary and Gates Foundations' efforts to End Polio Now! Program participants will benefit from a full-day sales training course designed to address three areas necessary for sales success -- attitude, behavior and technique.

Other efforts within the Rotary District include encouraging 10% foundation giving, which can be done online. For details see Engage! magazine, August 2014 or contact Ken Solow, Annual Programs Fund Chair at ksolow@pinnacleadvisory.com.
