Join our Rotary colleagues on Sunday, February 25 when the Rotary Club of Dupont Circle (RCDC) will host their 6th annual trivia fundraiser from 1:30-4:30pm at Stoney’s on L, 2101 L St. NW, Washington, DC.

Partnering with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, the Dupont Circle RC will use proceeds from trivia night to buy bicycles that will support education in India. In rural areas of India, more than 60% of children drop out of school after 5th grade. One hundred million children of school age do not attend school, and the literacy rate of girls from marginalized groups is below 35%. Many students support family businesses and cannot spend more than an hour to travel to and from school—but access to bikes makes the commute possible.

In recent years, this project has provided bikes for 7,000 girls in rural India. Since receiving bikes, 75% of those students attend 90% of the classes in schools that are more than three miles away from their home. The village of Narpala has 127 marginalized students in need of bikes. RCDC plans to raise the funds needed to purchase bikes for these children, and trivia night is the opening event for this campaign.
