Rotary District 7620, which includes most of Central Maryland and Washington, DC, is pleased to call for applications to Rotary Clubs in the District through
Rotary Club Contacts
for either Post-Secondary or Global Grant scholarships.
District 7620 Post-Secondary Scholarships
Information for Individual Rotary Clubs
District 7620 offers four Post Secondary Scholarships of $5,000 to scholars residing in District 7620 and enrolling in an accredited US college, university or technical school for 2013-2014. Funds will be sent to the academic institution of winning scholars to cover tuition, room, board and books.
Timeline for Scholarships and Selection
Late November, 2012 through mid-February, 2013: Individual Rotary Clubs should begin to promote the District Post-Secondary scholarships to local high schools and/or colleges.
February 15, 2013 – March 15, 2013: Rotary Clubs review applications and interview candidates.
March 15, 2013: Deadline for all individual Rotary Clubs to submit an completed application packet to Tracey Heibel, District Scholarship Committee Chair,
traceyheibel@gmail.com. Incomplete scholarship packets will not be considered for further review.
March 15, 2013 – late April, 2013: Scholarship nominees will be contacted by the District Scholarship Committee and invited for an interview, if selected as a finalist.
May 1, 2013: Scholarship recipients notified of their scholarship by the District Scholarship Committee.
October, 2013: Scholarship funds will be sent to the academic institutions where recipients are enrolled.
Completed District Scholarship applications must include the following:

Essay explaining educational objectives and subsequent occupational goals (300-500 words)
A summary/resume of extracurricular and community activities, work experience, awards and honors received
An official copy of student’s high school or college transcript
A copy of any test scores (SAT, ACT, TOEFL) used to qualify for admission at a Post Secondary institution
Copies of any college acceptance letters received by the time of application
