The Rotary Club of Federal City was officially Chartered last Friday night at the Embassy of Pakistan. Club President Navin Valliappan welcomed guests and hosts Ben Woodman and Ellen Rolfes guided the audience through the program. DG Peter Kyle spoke of Rotary's growth in DC and the charter members' commitment to the Rotary cause. His Excellency, Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani, Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States spoke to the assembled Rotarians about Rotary's long history with Pakistan and the new government's commitment to democracy. The Honorable Muriel Bowser, DC Ward 4 Council member and mayoral candidate, spoke of Rotary's place in helping to transform DC and her commitment to the Federal City club. Past-DG Ray Streib, spoke enthusiastically of the new club's potential and led the awarding of charter to club members.
